PREVI, Banco do Brasil Employees' Pension Fund is a non profit closed pension fund entity, based in the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
Founded in 1904, under the name of Caixa Montepio dos Funccionários do Banco da República do Brazil, PREVI's purpose is to guarantee to its participants (Banco do Brasil employees as well as its own employees) pension fund benefits complementary to those payable by the Official Pension Fund, adding thus to their quality of life as well as to their dependent's.
Responding to a population of nearly 178 thousand among active contributors, retirees and pensioners, PREVI is Brazil's and Latin America's largest pension fund and the world's 45th largest one in terms of assets, according to the ranking published by the newspaper Pension & Investments in September 2009, based in December 2008 figures.

PREVI's funds originate from contributions made by the staff and by the sponsor, in addition to other special contributions prescribed in the by-laws or in another specific instrument. The funds originating from such contributions are invested in the stock market, in real estate and in trade bills, among others. The adequate management of those investments warrants the payment of the benefits, resulting in a growing contribution to Brazil's sustainable growth.
