16. Actuarial Liabilities
The Mathematical Provisions shown below were determined on the basis of actuarial calculations made by expert professionals from the Security Board., according to opinion issued on February 2nd, 2008.
The variation of Mathematical Provisions in the amount of R$5,258,595 thousand, contemplates the implantation of the Mortality Table AT-83, the oscillations resulting from the restructuring measures effected by the Sponsor relative to Staff (PAA and PAQ) and other actuarial variations.
a) Change in the Actuarial Table
In July 27, PREVI implemented the Mortality Table AT - 83, replacing GAM - 83, amortized 2nd year, for the actuarial evaluation of Benefits Plan 1. The cost relative to participants who joined after April 15th 1967 and pensioners, of R$1,278,061 thousand impacted the 2007 results. The effects of the implantation of the new Table for the participants who had joined earlier than April 14th, 1967 are described in the item 14-a of this Notes.
In the plan PREVI Futuro, the implementation of the Mortality Table AT - 83 took place in October 2007.
