Socio-environmental responsibility

The economic and social development of the Brazilian capital market was among PREVI's main objectives during the last few years.

PREVI's representatives participated in several domestic forums during 2007. Themes such as the propagation of the principles of corporate governing, control of the use of privileged information, and the importance of social and environmental investments were some of the topics discussed in those meetings.

Towards a sustainable future

In October, PREVI celebrated the Socio-environmental Responsibility Forum, which counted with the participation of board members, directors and managers in discussions concerning the sustainability and its relation to PREVI's diversified activities. Celebrating that Forum is part of the strategy of the creation of RSA (socio-environmental responsibility) that, upon its implementation, will produce positive impacts in long term results, in the preservation of the public image of this Institution, in the daily relations between the collaborators and many other aspects of PREVI's activities.

The RSA Forum is a development of the Direction Towards a RSA Policy, a document approved by the Executive Board in 2006, occasion when was also created a Workforce (GT - RSA), in which PREVI representatives of PREVI's boards, and that is responsible also for the elaboration of the Socio-environmental Responsibility Policy of that Institution.

Since 2005, PREVI is a member of the Information about the Emission of Greenhouse Effect Gases Project - CDP -, from the English "Carbon Disclosure Project". It is an effective mechanism to allow companies and investors all over the world to receive trustworthy information with regard to the impact produced by greenhouse effect gases and consequent climatic changes.

PREVI is Brazil's PRI representative

PREVI, since 2006, is a member of the Principles for Responsible Investment - PRI -, a UN initiative that counts with the participation of approximately 150 institutional investors around the world.

A ceremony that took place in March marked the enrollment of other pension funds domestic in this program. PREVI is a member of the group responsible for its management and, together with the associated Brazilian funds, proposes directions in order to include socio-environmental, social and governing variables in investment decisions.

Accessibility and respect

Servicing the special needs of participators and staff has prompted the adaptation of PREVI's premises in 2007. Access ramps for wheel chairs and special restrooms specially prepared for disabled people were set up at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
