PREVI: an overview
Previ is equivalent to the Pension Bank for Banco do Brasil staff. It manages two Pension Plans (Plano 1 and Plano PREVI Futuro), plus a Savings Fund Plan Pecúlio, Capec. Plano 1 is a Plano de Benefício Definido (Defined Benefits plan) closed to new participants since December 1997. Plano PREVI Futuro is classified as a Variable Contribution Plan, working as a Defined Contribution Plan during the period of accumulation and as a Defined Benefit Plan of occasion of the employee's retirement.

With those figures, PREVI consolidates its position as:
- Latin America's largest pension fund and on of the 50 largest in the world, in terms of assets.
- Brazil's most profitable pension plan.
- Holder of 31% of all assets held by the pension fund industry in Brazil.
- Responsible for the payment of an average benefit which is twice as much as the average paid by all pension plans in Brazil (including PREVI itself).
